Liquid CO2 is pressurized, and stored in a tank. This is the same Co2 that carbonates soda. By its nature co2 is a gas at low pressures and turns to a liquid at high pressures. In the cleaning process, the clothes are place in the Dry Cleaning machine drum and cool CO2 is pumped in until, at high pressure, the Co2 spontaneously becomes a liquid. Non-toxic soaps are utilized, and the clothes are gently tumbled and cleaned.
After the wash cycle is complete the CO2 is filtered, and the pressure is released spontaneously converting the co2 back to a gas from a liquid. The co2 then goes back into the holding tank. The clothes are left clean, smelling fresh, cool and
perfectly dry! It is true Dry Cleaning. |
